Our Process

Deciding on the right logistics company to help you save money in the storage, packaging, and shipping of your products is a detailed process. FW Warehousing makes your decision easier by placing the customer experience first and being transparent in our approach.

Why Should You Outsource Warehousing and Distribution?

Outsourcing warehousing and distribution efforts keep your business manageable and agile. Small and large businesses alike benefit from a partnership with a third-party logistics (3PL) company. When you allow a company like FW Warehousing to provide you with warehouse space and distribution services, you can focus on other aspects of business.

As your company matures and introduces new products and services, your inventory volume and transportation needs will evolve. We understand that change can happen quickly, and you may not be able to predict the warehouse space or quality of distribution services you’ll need to support your growth. Outsourcing your supply chain management helps you save money on transportation costs and manage your shifting inventory levels.

Whether you need short- or long-term warehousing and distribution assistance, FW Warehousing has the resources you need to guarantee timely and effective supply chain management. As a 3PL company, we have access to industry-leading solutions, proven processes, and a deep knowledge base. Our warehouse management systems keep you updated on the status of your inventory, making your obligations less stressful. We’ve offered 3PL services since 1949, so we know the key to quality logistics.

How We Approach Outsourced Supply Chain Logistics

Partnering with a 3PL company is a big decision. FW Warehousing understands how important it is for our clients to know what they’re getting when they enter an agreement with us, so we’ve outlined our process here. If you’re wondering what your journey will look like when you sign on for our 3PL services, here are the steps:

Sales

To start, you fill out a request for a quote (RFQ). The form asks for information about your business, such as your company address, the type of product you expect to warehouse and distribute, how many inbound shipments you have per month, and the average number of SKUs per outbound order. The form is extensive, but if there are any lingering questions, we can resolve them with a phone call.

After receiving an RFQ, we compile all SDS (safety data sheets) and SKU lists to determine pricing. Next, all documents go through our sales and operations departments to ensure we have the warehouse space and resources to dedicate to the assignment. Once we land on a price, we submit the figure to the client via email. If the client agrees to the amount, we proceed to contract signing.

Implementation

It takes around two weeks to move from the sales stage to the implementation phase. We arrange an implementation call between the client and our IT implementations support team, business development team, head of operations, general manager, and staff electronic data interchange (EDI) specialist. During the meeting, we verify the project profile, which establishes information such as inbound load scheduling, how to access your account portal, and whether you prefer first in, first out (FIFO), or last in, first out (LIFO) warehousing.

Ongoing

Lastly, we build your ongoing warehousing and distribution services plan. Working with a 3PL means you have access to FW Warehousing’s cutting-edge warehouse management system technology. Most competitors only offer basic management options like manual reports and excel spreadsheets.

When you choose FW Warehousing as your outsourced warehousing and distribution partner, you can view your inventory and receive updates in real-time. You decide how much reporting you want from the warehouse management system and schedule every load coming in and out. For example, if you need two truckloads on Thursday, you can verify what times are available. When a driver arrives, they come prepared with a bill of lading (BOL) and other information needed to confirm the job.

FW Warehousing’s client portal includes all the resources you need to keep operations running smoothly. We place the customer experience first by offering tools to reduce shipping costs and build custom logistics plans that fit your budget, delivery schedule, and business model. There are many benefits to outsourcing supply chain logistics, and we make sure you experience them all.
